Bec was involved in her first ever show at Upper Hutt Musical Theatre (UHMT) as the drummer in Chicago in May 2012. Since then she has performed in many shows around the Wellington region both in community theatre and professional theatre as a percussionist/drummer. Most recently she performed for shows Amelie by Witch Musical Theatre and Mamma Mia by Capital Theatre Trust and G&T Productions with her next big production right around the corner. She is thrilled to be back among her UHMT roots and excited to pass on her expertise to the Upper Hutt Community.
Becs interests in theatre evolved from performing in shows during the time she was doing her Bachelor Degree in Applied Arts (music). It helped her improve her sight reading immensely. She brings her professional skills and sound experience as a trained musician from study, previous work in a music store, past work as a specialist technician, experience operating and mixing sound, experience directing and performing throughout the past 18 years.
At UHMT Bec has musically directed The Musical of Musicals! (The Musical) in 2017 and been both the director/musical director and creator of 55 Musicals: Abridged which we put on in 2019 and director of UHMT’s 2021 production Once Upon A Time. She also directed and won the Wellington Theatre Antoinette Awards for best musical in 2024 for The Prom.
Currently Bec is excited to be back on the committee and using her skills in music to either perform, direct, or give out sound expertise.
